The clearest example of this is in the huge
subterranean transports known as ‘tunnellers’.
These great machines can clear large amounts
of ground, using mechanically-driven grinders
to drill down and enlarge a nest’s territory or
to transport its warriors into battle.
Analysis of a tunneller recovered from the
battle at Wreak’s Hill revealed that although
the armoured shell, drive shafts, and other
internal components were are all clearly stolen
from GCPS miners, its engine was custombuilt
and powered by a dangerously unstable
and potentially toxic chemical motor. Similar
machinery has been recovered elsewhere,
including from several of the monowheel
tunnel runners used by the Veer-myn as both
messengers and attack vehicles. A breakdown
of the foul-smelling liquid fuel used by these
creations suggests a level of toxicity sufficient
to slowly degrade and destroy the brains of
their Veer-myn drivers.
